Lockport
Lockport was incorporated in 1853 an is located in Will County, about 30 miles southwest of Chicago and North of Joliet at the locks connecting the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal with the Des Planes River. Lockport was the headquarters of the operationally defunct Illinois and Michigan Canal. A section of the canal runs through Lockport, including the remains of the canal's Lock No. 1 from which the town received its name. Lockport was one of the fastest growing communities in Illinois in 2007 with over 27,000 residents and covering over 7.1 square miles.
