Palos Heights

Palos Heights a city of about 12,000 and covering about 4 square miles, was incorporated in 1954. Palos Heights maintains a quiet, small town atmosphere while providing the convenience of municipal services normally associated with larger cities. Neighborhood parks, Lake Katherine Nature Preserve, and the adjacent Cook County forest Preserves provide residents with excellent opportunities for recreation and a myriad of city recreation and sports programs.
Subdivisions bearing such appealing names as Navajo Hills, Ishnala, and Palos Pines are reminiscent of the Indian burial grounds and lingering remains of an old fort in neighboring Palos Park Forest Preserve. These trace a history of an area that dates back many centuries. At the far southern tip of the city is Oak Hills, a gated subdivision of townhomes and condominiums built around a private nine-hole gold course of the same name.
There is housing that overlooks the Lake Katherine Nature Preserve. Located at the northern edge of the city, off of College Drive, elegant townhomes are clustered into three separate communities: The Moorings, Lake Katherine Harbor, and Lake Katherine View Estates.
