Palos Park

Palos Park is located 22 miles from downtown Chicago with a population of about 4,700. It covers about 3.5 square miles and the price of the average single family home sold last year was $353,000.
Early Settlers came to Palos with the building of the Illinois-Michigan Canal which was completed in 1848. There is however, evidence to indicate that Indians, French explores, soldiers and traders roamed the area in the 1700’s.
The name Palos comes from the Spanish “Palos de Frontiers” which means “Tall Tree”. Bound by forest preserves on three sides, Palos Park richly deserves this name
There are foot paths and bridal trails for year around enjoyment.

Grade school district 118 is a highly rated district winning various awards. It schools are Palos East, Palos West, and Palos South Middle School. The High school dist is District 230 . Students attend Amos Alonso Stagg High School.
